About
Before he financed homes, he sold them, developed them, and built them. Twenty-eight years on the other side of the closing table — and he has lived in Kerrville since 1997.
The Short Version
Most mortgage advisors come up through banking. Chet came up through the transaction itself — listing and selling homes, training the agents who sold them, and eventually developing and building them. He retired to Kerrville in 1998 after twenty-eight years in business. It did not stick. He came back to the part of the deal he had spent a career watching other people handle badly, and has been doing it here ever since.
How He Got Here
A tour of duty in Turkey, then the remainder of his enlistment at Sandia Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Honorably discharged.
He stayed in New Mexico after his discharge and started in real estate sales. Sales led to sales management, and eventually to Vice President and Director at New Mexico’s leading real estate firm, where he was responsible for hiring and training agents and their support staff.
He formed Diversified Development and Investments, Inc., moving into residential development and homebuilding, and later Hearn Realtors for new and pre-owned home sales. He served as President and CEO of both firms, through good markets and difficult ones.
Chet and Anne moved to the Hill Country for the same reasons most people do — the small-town pace, the people, and, being golfers, Riverhill. They built a home there. He closed twenty-eight years in business behind him and retired.
Retirement did not take. Chet returned to the business he knew, this time helping people finance the homes he once sold and built — now as a Senior Mortgage Advisor with Coast2Coast Mortgage, working with buyers and homeowners across Kerrville, San Antonio, and the Texas Hill Country.
Why It Matters to You
Chet has been the seller, the builder, and the broker on a residential transaction. He knows what a delayed loan does to a closing date, because he has been the one on the other end of it waiting.
Twenty-eight years of contracts, development deals, and closings means the documentation stage tends to be explained rather than simply demanded. Knowing why an underwriter is asking makes the asking easier to take.
This is not a stop on the way to something else. Chet chose Kerrville in 1997 and has been here since. His clients tend to be neighbors, and their referrals are the business.
In His Own Words
Chet works mostly remotely and meets clients at his Kerrville office by appointment. He answers his own phone. If he does not know an answer, he says so and then goes and finds it — a habit his clients mention often enough that it shows up in their reviews.
He is an Army veteran, which is part of why VA loans get his particular attention. He is a Riverhill member and plays golf on Wednesdays and Fridays, and he and his wife Anne have been in the Hill Country since 1997.
There is no pressure in any of this. Ask a question, get an answer, decide in your own time.
